IPTV on Firestick 4K Max: setup and best settings

The 4K Max is the easiest way to get IPTV onto any TV with an HDMI port. Five minutes to install, two minutes to tune.

Install the player

Follow the Fire TV steps in our setup guide: install Downloader, allow it to install apps, then install the player that support recommends. Log in with the Xtream Codes details from your order email.

Settings for the best 4K picture

  • Display & Sounds › Display › Video resolution: set to Auto (up to 4K Ultra HD).
  • Dynamic range: Adaptive, so HDR content switches on only when the stream has it.
  • Match original frame rate: On. Sports at 50 or 60 frames look smoother.
  • In the player, choose the hardware decoder and a buffer around 5 seconds.

Keep it running smoothly

The 4K Max has more memory than older sticks, but it still fills up. Clear the player cache from Settings › Applications once a month and restart the stick weekly. If you use Wi-Fi, the 4K Max supports Wi-Fi 6E; put it on the fastest band your router offers.

Older Firesticks

The basic Fire TV Stick and the Lite play Full HD only. They work fine with the service; you will simply see the FHD version of 4K channels.
